Forest League Plate Finals at FOD

Evening Forest Leaguers,

The results;

Winners             The Stags.  Played 3  won 3   12 points.

Runners up        Kestrels.     Played 3  won 2     8 points.

A really good evening’s bowling with some very well contested games.

I’ll give you a general resumé of the matches because as I left the score cards behind, the exact scores are a little beyond my powers of recollection.

In the first round, the Oaks ran the Stags very close, only losing by the odd shot. A cracking performance, having given away a SIX. On the other mat, the Kestrels beat the Weasels by a small margin.

In the second round the Stags and Kestrels had a rare old battle, the result coming down to the last bowl, with the Stags prevailing by a couple of shots. In the other match, again a very close game coming down to the last bowl and with two bowls resting the jack for a dead end, the Weasels scraped home by the one shot.

In the final round, the Oaks and Kestrels again went down to the final bowl, with the Kestrels edging home by the odd shot.

On the other mat the Stags made light work of the Weasels, romping home to a comfortable win and becoming worthy winners of the competition.

 Congratulations to the Stags!

Many thanks to Forest of Dean Club for hosting the evening and the EDGFORCE group for their sponsorship.

The one downside of the evening was slow play! I’d hoped we’d seen the last of this as it hasn’t been a problem all season. Let’s hope this was just an unfortunate hiccup, because leaving the venue at 10.30pm is just not acceptable.

Many thanks to all of you who took part and made it an enjoyable competition,

Mike E
