Hi folks,
I was not sure whether having all six clubs in a crowded hall was going to work, but it is safe to say that last night’s ‘FL Finale’ was a great success.
With 44 players, measuring banned, and a strict time schedule in place, we managed to complete all 15 matches, presentations, and the photo shoot before 10pm. It just goes to show that it can be done.
Huntley got off to a strong start, using their Joker to good effect to score a ‘12’ on one end against Woolaston. The leads were all trying hard in the opening matches to be the first to get a toucher and win a prize. Lin Clulee and Merv Edmunds achieved this with their very first bowl of the evening. Keith Ward won the prize for the first trail of the jack into the ditch, while Huntley also picked up the team prizes for the highest and lowest match scores — 15 and 0.
Congratulations to Forest of Dean, who beat Huntley in the final match of the evening to win the ‘Edgeforce’ Trophy and £50 cash prize.
Hopefully this is an event we can add to the Forest League calendar for next season.
