Good evening Forest Leaguers,
On arrival at Yorkley last night, it quickly became apparent that all was not well. Unfortunately two of the Longhope players had failed to arrive leaving them with only two players. As we know, you can play SMB fours with only three players but not with two. This meant that Longhope would be unable to fulfill their part in the fixture and the points awarded to the other three teams. All very unfortunate, but even worse was the fact we would lose half the evening's bowls. Resourceful as ever, Mike Wall scurried off to get his kit while Brian Wyman delved into the charity box to find some bowling shoes and a very battered pair of woods. Together they joined forces with Margaret and Liz to make up a scratch four so everyone could at least play their matches. I haven't put the scratch four's scores in the results as they were not part of the competition.

As if we didn't have enough negatives already, slow play reared its ugly head again, with the same team involved in all three slow games. This is the first time this season we've had a problem. For this format of bowls to work we need both mats playing at a similar pace and all of us as players have a responsibility to each other to make sure this happens.
Thank you to everyone for making the best of the evening. These things happen and we all know how easy it is for wires to become crossed.
As ever, the matches were all played in a good spirit. Some of the games were very close, with good bowling and even a 8 along the way.
