Hi everyone,
A busy week for the league competitions, with four qualifying rounds of the singles, a League Cup fixture and a league fixture.
The singles seemed to go off without any problems, with most evenings seeing all 12 matches completed by 9.30.
There were clear winners in all eight groups, with none of the winners dropping a game.
Starting at Huntley, it was a good night for Westbury, with both groups won by Graham Orr and Yvonne Jones.
At Forest of Dean, it was Yorkley’s turn to supply both winners, with Peter Taylor and Delvin Porter taking the honours. There was some strong opposition in both groups, with a few likely contenders missing out.
At Longhope, the evening was dominated by Julian Kellett and Steve Williams, who both recorded some impressive winning margins. Steve even managed a massive 22 shots in one game, out of a possible 28!
Last up was Woolaston, where there were again two clear winners: local player Andrew Mott and Marlene Tippins of Yorkley.
The finals at Yorkley on November 17th should be an evening to watch, so please come along and support your players.
Singles finals draw
Group A: Andrew Mott, Julian Kellett, Steve Williams and Marlene Tippins.
Group B: Yvonne Jones, Graham Orr, Peter Taylor and Del Porter.
The League Cup match at Longhope saw the home side secure a 9-0 win against Woolaston. A tough venue for any club to visit, especially against such a strong home team.
In the league at Westbury, the spoils were shared, with two wins each for the Weasels, Falcons and Oaks. Woolaston’s Commoners were really unlucky, losing all three games by the narrowest of margins, 6-5.
