Good evening Forest Leaguers,
With the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness upon us and a palette of opulent colours cascading into the distant horizon, it seems fitting that our opening fixture of the season should have been hosted by the Forest of Dean Club.
Scores;
Stags. 9 Buzzards 4
Foxes 5 Wombles 4
Stags 9 Foxes 3
Buzzards 4 Wombles 6
Stags 9 Wombles 7
Foxes 11 Buzzards 3
Can you all check these please.
In the first game, the Buzzards got off to a flying start building up an early lead. The Stags came back with a 5 in the fifth end and ran out winners 9 – 4. On the other mat, a very close game saw the Foxes edge out the Wombles 5 – 4.
In the second round the Stags were in fine form, cruising to a 9 – 3 win over the Foxes. In the other game the Wombles, in a very close game, managed to scrape past the unfortunate Buzzards 6 – 4.
After a short break, the Wombles started strongly in the third round and were in front right to the last end. However, the Stags were not to be denied, taking a 6 in the last end to win 9 – 7.
In the final game, the Buzzards unfortunately didn’t find things any easier, and the Foxes romped home 11 – 3.
A good evening’s bowling to get the season underway and many thanks to the Forest of Dean Club for hosting the evening.
Have you lost a pair of shoes? When clearing the hall, some black outdoor shoes were found, so if Cinderella would care to contact John Orr, you may be able to attend the ball after all!
The Forest really is a magical place at this time of the year.
Regards
Mike E
